<p>Figen Ulgen is the Group Chief Data and AI Officer for Daiichi Life Group, based in Tokyo, Japan where she leads the group-wide AI and Data strategy across innovation, governance, AI-driven enterprise transformation. In this role, Dr. Ulgen is responsible for AI-driven value creation, embedding responsible AI-capabilities across a global financial services organization.</p><p>A long-standing AI and Data practitioner with deep technical foundations, Dr. Ulgen began working in artificial intelligence through her doctoral research on neural network training algorithms. This technical grounding complemented with extensive industry experience spanning applied AI, BI, various data platforms and large scale digital transformation. She holds multiple patents and brings a practitioner’s perspective to both strategy and execution.</p><p>Prior to joining Daiichi Life Group, Dr. Ulgen held senior leadership roles at LINE, Woolworths, Microsoft, Intel and McKinsey &amp; Company. In addition to her executive responsibilities, she serves as an External Director on the Board of a Prime-listed company in Tokyo Stock Exchange. Dr. Ulgen’s work is driven by a focus on building trustworthy, sustainable and scalable AI that delivers meaningful business and societal impact.</p>
